Visibility is something that womxn have to consistently work for. That’s why I adore my work as a Brighton-based Female Photographer, as I can help other womxn bring their vision to life, and express themselves in a way they didn’t know they could.
Living in a patriarchal society means that we have to work harder to be seen and heard.
Due to centuries of oppression, the patriarchal forces at play have consistently tried to disempower and silence womxn. That’s why my shoot with the gorgeous Abi - a Visibility Coach, Stylist and Speaker, was such a rewarding and empowering experience.
Together, we both stepped into our own superpowers, to create something incredibly special.
About Abi
Abi’s work focuses on empowering Entrepreneurial Womxn to be highly visible in The Age of Aquarius.
By raising other womxn up, her work is instrumental in addressing a womxn’s worth, and helping individuals thrive by finding their confidence and voice.
My experience working with Abi was incredibly sacred and unique.
There is nothing quite like meeting someone who is completely in line with your own values. Especially as a female creative, it is really exciting to go through the creative process with someone who truly gets you, and is on a mission very similar to yours.
So, what are the similarities between us?
1. Visibility.
We both work to help womxn become more visible.
I do this through my camera by creating authentic, storytelling brand pictures & videos, Abi does this through her activism, including public speaking and retreat organising. Despite the different forms in which we express this, nurturing womxn is at the forefront of what we both do.
2. Empowerment.
I empower womxn to be confident, brave, bold and to step out of their comfort zone before, during and after the portrait photo session.
Abi does all this, but through helping womxn realise their true potential through coaching. This includes helping people to look deep within, as well as focusing on the presentation of their external selves.
3. Working with female entrepreneurs to help them feel empowered and fully expressed.
I do this by capturing portraits, headshots and moments through my camera lens, to help express the inner power of each womxn.
Abi does this through sharing what she has learnt about being a female entrepreneur, helping other womxn to be more confident and visible.
4. Ex-corporate financial background.
We both took the brave decision to turn our passion into purpose.
It may have been scary at first, but by following our intuition, we have found careers that are meaningful, and in line with our beliefs. And guess what...raising other womxn up is a very rewarding experience!
5. Both based in Sussex, Brighton & Hove.
As we were both familiar with the endless opportunities to shoot in beautiful locations here in Sussex, we used the familiarity of our surroundings to choose an ideal spot for the shoot.
Creating the perfect shoot
Our outdoor brand portrait photoshoot took place by Seven Sisters Cliffs, only 30 minutes from Brighton & Hove.
I love how the open space of the beach offers a sense of unlimited possibility, freedom and strength.
Here we played with the water, waves and wind elements.
Together, we moved beyond our limitations and stepped into our expansive power, using each other's energy to embrace our own superpowers.
During Abi’s brand portrait session, she told me that, “With every step you take you are moving from the fear and learning zone, into the expansionZone”.
This pearl of wisdom captures the core values that we both share; that curiosity, bravery and playfulness will help womxn realise their worth and true identity.
Sharing this exciting and collaborative experience together helped to create beautiful, truthful and illuminating photographs bursting with life and passion.
