I met Hester in the middle of December, on the beach here in Brighton, Sussex area. It was cloudy Friday morning, after it had just stopped raining. Clouds provide the ideal backdrop for photographs, allowing the exposure to be the perfect balance.

Hester is a writer and actress, so we set out to capture some new headshots, as well as some lifestyle pictures for her website and blog.
As a recent graduate, Hester has started to use her writing to raise awareness for menstrual conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome and endometriosis.
Her dream is to one day turn her experiences into a script for theatre, film or television.
Due to her hormonal imbalance, she has lost over three-quarters of her hair, which caused a huge knock to her confidence, particularly within the acting industry.
However, recently, she has been trying to heal through seeing a naturopath, after unsuccessfully treating it with mainstream medicine.
As she waits to see the results, she has discovered a newfound confidence due to her hair-topper, which is a bit of extra fake hair to cover up the patches of scalp that have completely lost hair.

Today was all about connecting with her inner feminine side, as she embraces the world with her new hair.
These pictures will be used on her blog to accompany her writing.
Having previously felt betrayed by her body, on her road to recovery, she felt it was really important to capture herself attempting to reconnect with hers.
We used the hour slot during the brand photo session that we had to take a variety of pictures against a range of backdrops.
Using Brighton beach, and all that surrounds it, we created the perfect atmosphere to convey nature at its finest.
Her blog is reflective and critical of the patriarchy, and Hester enjoys writing on the beach, so we took pictures of her journaling, reading and also running around, to express all the different sides that she embraces.
